Missouri sends its first group of high school students to World Food Prize

Missouri sent its first group of high school representatives to the World Food Prize in fall of 2016. Students qualified for this prestigious program by submitting a paper of international focus and attending the Missouri Youth Institute, a one-day state level program designed to introduce students to the World Food Prize and its mission.

The World Food Prize sponsors a three-day Global Youth Institute, an international program for students to learn about food insecurity and to connect with industry professionals. The World Food Prize recognizes achievements in food security world wide by awarding a monetary prize to a “hunger fighter.” The award presentation is the culminating event of a week-long symposium.

Missouri looks forward to continuing to take students to the World Food Prize, and hopes to increase the scope of the Missouri Youth Institute.
