Hello, my name is Alexa Nordwald, and I am a senior science and agricultural journalism student graduating in December 2018. My rural hometown of East Prairie, Missouri, has a lot to do with my connection to agriculture, as well as my grandparents’ cattle operation and my father’s position as a high school agriculture teacher.
I am vice president of MU Agricultural Communicators and Leaders of Tomorrow and am a member of Sigma Alpha, a professional agricultural sorority. This semester, I am interning for Farm Journal Media in Mexico, Missouri, writing pieces for the web and editing stories for print.
In the past, I have also interned with the Missouri Soybean Association and worked at the MU Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute. I wrote for Corner Post during the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters. I now serve as editor for the CAFNR Corner Post and co-teach lessons on news writing for the Corner Post class.
