Hello! My name is Morgan Walkup and I am from northwest Missouri and the small town of Gower. I love to read, write, sing, participate in theater and advocate for agriculture. I am currently a freshman Science and Agricultural Journalism major at the University of Missouri.
I was born in West Des Moines, Iowa, a suburban area that was still very close to farmland. Once I was a little older, my parents decided it was time to move back to the small town that they had grown up in. It was in Gower that I became completely immersed in agriculture through my participation in 4-H and FFA. I raised market lambs for show use or for consumption as my main 4-H project that spiraled into my FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience. When I started high school I discovered that I had a passion for public speaking, mainly focusing on agricultural issues. Those speaking experiences have led me to my decision to major in Science and Agricultural Journalism here at Mizzou.
I am very excited to be writing for CAFNR CornerPost this semester! I am looking forward to improving my journalistic writing abilities while in this class. I hope to obtain a position in an agricultural company where I would be able to promote agriculture using the skills I learn through CAFNR!
