Meet Jacqueline Janorschke

Years ago, you could find me sporting a shirt that read, “Reading, Writing, Socializing” while attending writing camps during summer break from elementary school. It wasn’t until later that I discovered my passion for agriculture. Growing up in a rural area outside of St. Joseph, Missouri, I have always been surrounded by agriculture, but it didn’t become a passion of mine until four years ago.

I joined FFA in high school and I had no idea what life changing experiences I was about to have. FFA led me to create my own business, “Beauty and the Bees,” where I harvest and process honey and beeswax into lip balms and other products. As a beekeeper, however, I soon realized the need for others to understand bees’ importance in agriculture. I am known in my community as the “bee girl” giving presentations to the public on honeybees’ importance to agriculture.

These days, you can find me traveling across Missouri and the rest of the United States as the Missouri FFA Association State Secretary. I have logged 10,741 miles in the past seven months, met with Governor Nixon and Senator Blunt, as well as thousands of FFA members, and my journey is not over yet.

My passion for agriculture and agriculture education brought me to the University of Missouri to major in science and agricultural journalism. I know writing for Corner Post will give me an outlet to communicate with a broad audience about agriculture and I’m excited to see what this semester has in store!
