My passion for agriculture and the livestock industry began at a young age. I grew up on a small purebred beef cattle operation where my family and I raise gelbvieh and balancer cattle. I began showing cattle as soon as I could walk and have spent every summer exhibiting cattle at the local, state, regional and national levels. Showing livestock is a family affair and continually provides my family and me with countless memories as we travel across the country with our animals. In addition to showing cattle, I began judging livestock at the age of 8. My judging experiences have only deepened my interest and passion for animal agriculture and the impact the industry has on a daily basis.
This passion for livestock led me to pursue a major in Animal Sciences and follow my dream of holding a career in the animal agriculture industry. Aside from my passion for livestock, I have a large interest in communicating with others the benefits of the industry. I hope to capitalize on this interest in my career. While I do not know exactly where my future lies, I hope to work directly with agriculture producers to enhance and promote the future of the industry.
I am a third-generation Missouri tiger and I was born with black and gold in my blood. I was excited to achieve my childhood dream as I followed the footsteps of 26 others in my family by attending the University of Missouri. I have quickly found my fit in the Animal Sciences department and am excited to gain some writing and communications experience through my involvement with CAFNR Corner Post. I hope to expand my knowledge and abilities in this area because I feel that it will provide me great value as I go forth and eventually apply for careers in the industry.
