My name is Allison Spence, and I’m a senior at the University of Missouri. I’ll graduate in December 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in science and agricultural journalism and a minor in agricultural economics. I grew up in Troy, Missouri, where my small, farming community helped develop my passion for agriculture.
I don’t come from a typical farm background, yet somehow made my way into FFA in high school. That’s where I learned about the huge gap in communication and understanding about agricultural topics between agriculturalists and the general consumer. I soon realized how important being an “agvocate” would be in my life.
My studies within agricultural journalism have an emphasis in strategic communication writing and agricultural marketing. My career goal is to be a copywriter at an advertising agency within the agricultural industry.
This is my second go-around as a CAFNR Corner Post editor. I love working with the younger students in our program to help them find their niche within our major. I’m excited to hone in on our staff’s passion for agriculture and present materials our readers will enjoy.
