Hello! I’m Claire Lardizabal and I’m one of the managing editors for CAFNR Corner Post this semester. I am a science and agricultural journalism senior with an emphasis in food writing and magazine editing. My experience includes being a reporter for the Columbia Missourian; a contributing writer for Vox Magazine; and a food and family life writer at the Columbia Daily Tribune.
I’ve always been attracted to Mizzou’s prestigious journalism program. I have been a writer ever since I was a little girl and knew I wanted to make a career out of it. My interest in journalism began at Kirksville High School when I took photography classes and wrote for the school paper.
I moved to Columbia when I graduated, and I’ve been here ever since. I attended Moberly Area Community College’s Columbia campus and used my A+ Scholarship. I received my associate of arts in general studies December 2013 and transferred to Mizzou to reunite my dream of attending journalism school.
I’m a firm believer in going after your interests, which is why I chose food and wine writing. I’ve been involved in food from growing up in a bakery, working in restaurants and traveling to try new food so why not write about it? One of my goals is to eventually become an editor for a food or travel magazine so I am excited to work on those skills by working with other brilliant, talented journalists to-be this semester.
