Hello! My name is Brandelyn Martin and I am a science and agricultural journalism major at the University of Missouri. I am originally from the rural town of Silex, Missouri. I was raised on a small farm just outside of town. This is where my passion for the agriculture industry was first ignited.
My freshman year in high school introduced me to many new experiences — most importantly, the National FFA Organization. I can proudly say that I eat, sleep, and breathe FFA. Along with participating in every speaking contest and Career Development Event that I could over the years, I also served as both a chapter and area officer. I am currently serving as the Missouri FFA State First Vice President, representing Area V. My involvement in the National FFA Organization has helped me to learn about different aspects of the agriculture industry, as well as increase my passion for and interest in the industry.
I plan to use my degree in science and agricultural journalism as preparation for a career in public relations. This will give me the opportunity to use my skills to communicate with the public about agriculture.
I am excited to be writing for the CAFNR Corner Post this semester. From this experience, I hope to further develop my writing skills and continue to grow my passion for the agriculture industry.
