Hello, I’m Alexa Nordwald, a freshman at the University of Missouri this year majoring in science and agricultural journalism.
My hometown is East Prairie, Missouri, in the southeast corner of the state. In high school, I served as our chapter and area FFA president and editor of our school newspaper.
These offices helped me to develop my interests in ag journalism.
Many people ask me why I chose to drive five hours from home in order to come to Mizzou, but to me, the answer is simple. Mizzou has an excellent agriculture school and journalism school. These are the two areas I care about most, and I know the University can equip me with the knowledge I need to be successful in agricultural communications.
Today, I serve as the Area 15 State Vice President for the Missouri FFA Association and am interning for the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI). In the future, I hope to work in public relations or strategic marketing.
