With spring here, graduation is just around the corner – a week away, to be more precise. The CAFNR Academic Programs Office has been preparing for the ceremony, and students have been preparing for what comes after graduation.
Before graduating, students must meet requirements, complete all paperwork (such as declaring a minor) and purchase their graduation gowns.
This spring, CAFNR is expecting 380 students to be at the ceremony at the Hearnes Center. Laura Denker, CAFNR coordinator of student services and an MU alum, has prepared the upcoming ceremony and reception.
“The reception gives parents a chance to meet faculty and college officials,” Denker said. “There is a large turnout of faculty and it makes our ceremony fun.”
The speaker, U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt, joins a long line of dignitaries who have spoken in the past including Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, and U.S. Sen.Claire McCaskill.
CAFNR Student Council President, Cody Raines, will announce the Outstanding Senior for the 2013 school year during the ceremony. Commencement will be held on May 18, and the reception will follow at Hearnes Fieldhouse.
