“Keep Calm and Zumba” is the theme of the Friday night Zumba-A-Thon philanthropy event hosted by Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority. The event will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church from 6 to 10 p.m. on Nov. 30.
The entry fee for the event is $5. Raffle tickets will be sold along with concessions. All proceeds will benefit Columbia’s local soup kitchen, Loaves and Fishes.
According to Amanda Smith, freshman agricultural education major and Sigma Alpha membership candidate, Sigma Alpha has high hopes for the event.
“This could be one the largest philanthropy project a membership candidate class has done in years,” Smith said
The Sigma Alpha-Alpha Chi chapter has been established at the University of Missouri since 2002. The women of Sigma Alpha live by the motto “Women Excelling in Agriculture,” and their objective is to strive for qualities of leadership, scholarship and service. They obtain this goal through various events including their current philanthropy, Zumba-A-Thon.
According to the event flier, you’d better be ready to “dance your socks off!”
