Play Ball! At the Spring Swing Softball Tournament May 3
by Jeremy Elson, posted April 30, 2008

The temperatures are finally rising and along with the warmer temperatures come more exciting activities in CAFNR. Planning for the second annual Spring Swing Softball Tournament is well underway.

The games begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Hinkson Field. Teams must consist of at least five women and five men. Registration was $40 and will benefit Heifer International, which provides livestock to needy families in underdeveloped countries.

Late registration will be accepted until Friday, May 2, with an additional $20 late fee. CAFNR Student Council is sponsoring the event, and registration is open to all CAFNR students.

The event is made possible with donations from several local businesses including R & K Angus Ranch, Moser’s Grocery Store, and Pepsi. GDI has volunteered to cook for the event.

The winners will receive a champion t-shirt along with having their names engraved on the traveling trophy. Teams lacking in softball talent still have an opportunity to pull out a victory in the tournament, as the team with the best uniforms will get a prize.

“I’m excited for the event not only as a committee member but as a player in the tournament too,” said Madeline Thomas, Student Council recruitment committee co-chair

Thomas said they expect 15 teams an increase from last year’s 10 teams.
