Mariah Yates, posted April 25, 2007

Sunday, April 22, several CAFNR organizations met at Hinkson field on the MU campus for CAFNR Student Council’s inaugural Spring Swing softball tournament. Proceeds from the entry fees, the barbecue lunch and t-shirt sales totaled $750, which will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life campaign according to Kyle Eckler, Student Council recruitment team leader.

Alpha Gamma Rho participated in the inaugural Spring Swing April 22 and took home the prize: t-shirts and a traveling trophy to be located in the CAFNR resource room.

Students from several CAFNR clubs and organizations joined together for the softball tournament. Their efforts resulted in a $750 donation to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Ashley Schlichenmayer and Kyle Eckler, CAFNR StuCo Recruitment Team Leaders, helped organize the Spring Swing event.

Ag Ed Society, Independent Aggies, Agronomy Club, Ag Econ Club, Mizzou FFA, Collegiate Farm Bureau, Alpha Gamma Rho, Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Society, Wildlife Society and the Forestry Club participated in the tournament. Each team consisted of five female and five male players.

“The winning team received champion t-shirts and their name on the traveling trophy, which will be displayed in the CAFNR Resource Room,” said Ashley Noblitt, Student Council president. The Alpha Gamma Rho team took home the honors this year.
