Super Farmer

Sigma Alpha hosted its first Super Farmer Contest on Thursday, March 2, at Trowbridge Livestock Arena.  Five four-person teams competed in seven timed agriculture related events and an obstacle course relay. The events included a nail, screw and staple drive; milk chug; calf rope; bale toss; cow patty toss; water run; and tool search. The relay consisted of a culvert crawl, gate climb, land skiing, tire role, wheel barrel race, 4-wheeler obstacle course and egg smash.

Groups represented by teams were GDI, Ag Ed Society, Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Block and Bridle, CHA and Shurz Residential Hall. The GDI team won the competition with 33 points, followed by Colligiate Horseman's Association with 20 points and the Alpha Gamma Rho team two with 19 points.

Senior agricuture education major Cody Brock, sophomore ASM major Brian Martin, sophomore agricultural education major Stacy Youse, and junior HRM majour Miranda Taylor use land skis in the relay race.  Cody, Brian, Stacy and Miranda were members of the Alpha Gamma Rho team number two.

Senior agricultural education major Hannah Nelson competes the 4-wheeler obstacle course. Drivers had to drive through the course blindfolded and then try to back the 4-wheeler and trailer into a gate.

Team mates Chris Nation and freshman agricutural education major Kristin Kallash compete in the milk chugging competition. Chris and Kristin were on the Alpha Gamma Rho team one along with Scott Jackson and freshman animal science major Audra Wyble.
