Meet Monica Everett
My name is Monica Everett and I am from Kansas City, Mo.  This is my first year on campus and my first semester as an Agricultural Journalism major.  I plan to minor in Rural Sociology and complete the Environmental Studies certificate. As a transfer from the Journalism School, I am excited for the opportunity to learn more about CAFNR as I write stories for Corner Post.

My focus in the Agricultural Journalism program is Conservation and Environmental Science, and I am especially interested in exploring the impacts of the food system on the environment; I hope to incorporate this subject into my writing this semester and throughout my career. I have cultivated an interest in these issues throughout my life but most recently through my job at the new Sustainability Office on campus.

In my free time, I like to read, play piano, and exercise, but I spend most of my time writing, studying, and working. This spring I hope to become comfortable navigating the streets of Columbia by bicycle. During the rest of my time in college I hope to study abroad in India. After graduation, I plan to balance practicing Agricultural Journalism in the magazine industry with helping communities develop sustainably.
