Meet Kristy Tiesing
My name is Kristy Tiesing, and I am a sophomore agricultural journalism student. This will be my third semester writing for CAFNR Corner Post. My hometown is St. Charles, Mo. While in high school, I was active in both cheerleading and soccer. I also enjoy hunting, riding horses, reading and being outdoors.

As I have moved on to college, I have left many of those activities behind. I am now involved in various activities in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. I will be a part of the 2010 student council and am the vice president of the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow. I recently spent three weeks in New Zealand studying their agriculture and natural resources. That has so far been my most rewarding CAFNR experience.

I currently work in the MU Extension office and spent my summer putting together the 2009 Farm Family day at the State Fair. Agriculture is what makes the world work, and I enjoy spreading news and promoting its positive message.

When school gets overwhelming I enjoy the beautiful parts of Columbia. I like to walk the MKT or window shop downtown. I have most enjoyed Mizzou’s beautiful campus, relaxing atmosphere and closeness to downtown.

I enjoy writing for Corner Post because it gives me a taste of the real writing world without the high stress atmosphere. It is a way to brainstorm ideas with others in my major and get feedback from those who have been there before. There isn’t a better way to develop your writing skills and determine what type of person you are and how your writing will reflect that. I look forward to tackling new story ideas and working with my peers in creating another successful semester.
