Meet John McLaughlin
My name is John L. McLaughlin and I am a transfer student from Penn Valley Community College, in Kansas City, Mo., where I have completed an Associate in Arts degree. This is my second semester at the University of Missouri, and I am looking forward to getting started on the completion of a B.S. from CAFNR.
During this semester I will be starting my major in Agricultural Journalism with the Conservation/Environmental Studies track and a minor in Spanish. I had originally anticipated becoming a member of the School of Journalism; however, I have recently recognized my passion for the life sciences in an area I believe needs the most attention and dedication in our ever-changing world. With a minor in Spanish, I hope to become accessible to parts of the world with some of the most diverse ecosystems; in places were I can be truly useful in allowing the right information to come upon people who are also passionate about the environment and conserving it. After my completion of a B.S. degree with CAFNR, I plan on returning to the School of Journalism to conclude my education with a Master's.
Currently, I am part of the University of Missouri Honors College and a member of the MU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. However, I plan to be fully involved within the College of Agriculture Food and Natural Resources in organizations such as Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, the Environmental Science Club and the MU Fermentation Sciences Club.
I am happy to be a contributing member of Corner Post’s writing team and am looking forward to yet another successful semester.
