Phillip Boydston
Collegiate Farm Bureau
Phillip Boydston, a senior from Odessa, Mo., is majoring in animal sciences. As a king candidate, he is representing Collegiate Farm Bureau.

Boydston participates in CAFNR Student Council, Alpha Zeta Honors Fraternitiy, vice president of Alpha Gamma Sigma and formerly the MU Meats Judging Team.

“Any club is better than no club. Don’t be afraid to take a chance and go out on a limb, cause that is where the fruit is!” Boydston said.

He enjoys hanging out with his friends on the farm, hunting, fishing and hanging out with the “old lady!” Boydston’s dream job is to be an auctioneer at a sale barn and raise livestock; “now that’s livin’ the dream,” Boydston said.

Tyler Haden
Alpha Gamma Sigma

Tyler Haden, a sophomore from Mexico, Mo., is majoring in animal sciences and is representing Alpha Gamma Sigma.

Haden participates in Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis, Judicial Peer Advisory Council and is a New Greek educator.

It is important to get involved, through CAFNR or MU, now is a great time to be networking for after graduation when transition into the “real world,” Haden said.

He enjoys watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, riding horses and being with his friends. Haden’s dream job is to be a professional hunting guide out West.

Eric Ling
Collegiate Cattle Women

Eric Ling, a senior from Springfield, Mo., is majoring in agribusiness management and representing Collegiate Cattle Women.

Ling participates in Independent Aggies, the Agricultural Systems Management Club and CAFNR Student Council and said that getting involved, “gives you a chance to meet people and to gain experience working through various challenges.”

He hopes to someday manage and expand his family’s dairy farm. Ling enjoys attending the GDI dances and socials, being outside, back roading and loves a home cooked meal.

Brent McCauley
CAFNR Ambassadors

Brent McCauley, a junior from Savannah, Mo., is majoring in agribusiness management. He is representing CAFNR Ambassadors.

McCauley is a Summer Welcome student coordinator, and is involved in Campus Crusade for Christ and MU Strength Club.

To be successful, get involved in at least two clubs, one that relates to your major and one you enjoy will help you meet students and professors that have the same career interests.

“If MU doesn’t have the club you want, start one!” McCauley said. He enjoys hanging out with his friends, lifting weights, going to the Lake of the Ozarks and cheering on the Tigers. McCauley’s dream job would be being the chancellor of MU.

Jason Robinett
Independent Aggies

Jason Robinett, a junior from Centralia, Mo., is majoring in animal sciences. As a king candidate, he is representing the Independent Aggies. Robinett enjoys CAFNR because of all the fun and exciting new people he has met.

“Be yourself and trust your instincts, and that will get you far,” Robinett said. He encourages students to get involved in GDI — it’s a great organization where you can be yourself, have fun and help the community.

He enjoys being with his friends, Wendy’s junior bacon cheeseburgers and watching the Indianapolis Colts.

Robinett’s dream job is to be a Simmental breed field representative or a feedlot manager.

Jake Schlitt
Alpha Gamma Rho

Jake Schlitt, a senior from Portageville, Mo., is majoring in agricultural systems management and agricultural economics.
As a king candidate, he is representing Alpha Gamma Rho.

Schlitt participates in the Agricultural Systems Management Club and enjoys attending his fraternity’s events, tailgating, hunting and loves the St. Louis Cardinals.

“The quality of people,” is what he enjoys about CAFNR, Schlitt said. He encourages students to get to know their professors and take “every opportunity available.”

His favorite food is crawfish and he would love to win the lottery and travel the world.

John L. Thompson
Block and Bridle

John L. Thompson, a senior from Mountain View, Mo., is majoring in animal sciences. As a king candidate, he is representing Block and Bridle.

“CAFNR teaches a forward thinking approach in the classroom as well as an opportunity to meet so many people that have the same interests,” Thompson said.

His dream job is to be a large animal veterinarian and he enjoys spending time at his family’s dairy farm and traveling.

Thompson loves the steak sandwich from Jimmy’s and quesadilla ranchero from the La Tolteca. “The main thing is to join a club that is rewarding,” Thompson said.
