A little mud never hurt anyone

College of Agriculture Food and Natural Resources students got down and dirty for CAFNR Week’s fifth annual mud volleyball tournament sponsored by the Independent Aggies. The event was held in the Trowbridge Livestock Center’s arena on Friday, Sept. 14.

Participants came to represent their club or organization in hopes to have fun while claiming more points, which can be done by participating in events during CAFNR week.

CAFNR clubs and organizations joined together for some fun in the mud during 2007 CAFNR Week.

The tournament mainly provides a fun atmosphere and an excuse to get a little dirty.

“It’s a great time,” said Taylor Hurst, a freshman animal sciences student. Hurst, who was competing for Alpha Gamma Sigma, had high expectations for his team. “My team is the winning team,” he said.

Other competitors were only hoping not to fall face down into the mud.

“I’m a little nervous,” said Allison Meyer, a senior playing for the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Society. “Hopefully I won’t make too big of a fool out of myself.”

To many students’ surprise, the men of Alpha Gamma Rho came out on top and claimed the first-place victory. Morale shouldn’t be low for the remaining groups, however. CAFNR Week activities will continue until Friday, Sept. 21.
