After a week of interviews and activity participation, this
2006 CAFNR Week Barnwarming King and Queen are Mike Ockerhausen
and Nicki Busdieker, both representing Collegiate Farm Bureau.
The candidates were awarded points throughout the week for
their participation in the lip sync and their club’s
skit. They were also graded on how well they did on their
essay and interview. Both Ockerhausen and Busdieker received
a $200 scholarship as well as being crowned at Friday night’s
Barnwarming.

Barnwarming at the Blue Note ended yet another good CAFNR
Week here at Mizzou. The Barnwarming dance had a great turn
out with the Blue Note being full of CAFNR students and faculty
from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. People were dancing, socializing and
enjoying the great food provided.
Brandon Jenkins and his band provided entertainment. This
bluegrass-country singer was well received by the students.
“I’ve never heard of this guy (Jenkins) before
tonight, but I like him a lot! Does he have a CD?” Nora
Kennedy, a freshman in the agriculture school, asked. Jenkins
has toured all over the country with some well-known artists,
including Willie Nelson.
Several door prizes were given out to the students who attended.
Some of the door prizes included gift certificates to local
restaurants as well as popular electronics.
“This year’s CAFNR week turned out to be the best
one I’ve been to so far,” said junior, Jason Mentz.
“The band was great and the food was awesome. The door
prizes were cool too.”
Despite all the new additions and changes to this year’s
CAFNR Week, many students seemed pleased with the activities,
especially Barnwarming. Many agreed the Barnwarming dance
was a perfect way to end up the week.
