Student Council election results

The CAFNR students voted and the results are in for the CAFNR
Student Council class and major representatives. Representing
the CAFNR freshman class is Jessica Bartz, Ellie Braungardt,
Kyle Eckler and Jared Thomas. Taryn Dameron, Moureen Hamill,
Michael Ockerhausen and Brooke Tacker represent the sophomore
class. Representing the juniors are Megan Broyles, Andy Cox,
Joseph Northcutt and Sarah Shaw. The representative for the
senior class is Jacob Adams.
The major representatives are Whitney Wolfe for agribusiness
management; Justin Lueck for agriculture economics; Ashley
Noblitt for agricultural education; Whitney Wallace for agriculture
journalism; Travis Heman for agricultural systems management;
Phillip Boydston for animals sciences; Andrew Bachmann for
general agriculture; Kevin Smith for hotel and restaurant
management; Katherine Stanley for parks, recreation and tourism;
Ashley Schlichenmayer for plant sciences; and Natalie Rada
for soil, environment and atmospheric sciences.
“As a representative it is your responsibility to go
to as many meetings as you can,” said Sarah Shaw, junior
representative. “At the meetings you are assigned to
a team that has their own responsibilities.” It is your
job to follow through on your duties to your full potential
so you team is successful and to bring opinions and ideas
from your clubs and classmates to improve CAFNR, Shaw said.
Upcoming for the group will be CAFNR Student Council executive
interviews. Everyone is encouraged to try out for these positions.
“Sometimes it’s not enough to be a member,”
said Mariah Yates, current student council vice president.
The office of president is one that comes with great responsibility.
He or she is in charge of organizing, preparing and conducting
a biweekly officer and council meeting. They also in charge
of overseeing, planning and attending all projects that for
student council. Other offices open are vice president, secretary,
treasurer, public relations and Missouri Students Association
representative.
“Student Council has made a lot of changes in the past
year—added new events to the schedule and developed
great new traditions for the college. There is no better time
to take a leadership position than now because the momentum
is growing!” Yates said.
