Holiday
cheer at Mizzou

Brady Commons was rampant with holiday cheer on Dec. 6. The
Department of Student Activities brought holiday cheer to
Mizzou with a mixture of Christmas music, cookies, hot chocolate
and Santa’s jolly “Ho-ho-ho.”
“This is an annual event to promote good cheer and holiday
spirit as the holidays approach. We also want to boost morale
before the stressful finals. It is something fun that promotes
a sense of community and reminds students of home,”
said Graduate Assistant for the event, Brian Dye.
At the event, there were free pictures with Santa for the
students walking through Brady. There were 400 students expected
to get pictures with Santa, according to Special Events Chair
for the Department of Student Life, Marissa Sharkey.
Among the 400 was Hanna Tesfamikael, a freshman who got her
picture taken with Santa because she has not gotten one taken
since she was 5-years old. Santa, who was played by MU senior
Nick Trusty, was happy to take pictures with these students.
“There’s no bad thing about being Santa because
I’m a cheery person,” said Santa.
The goal of the event was to spread holiday spirit, according
to Sharkey, and they did just that with Santa, music and cookies.
