You are sitting on the commuter bus waiting for it to take you from the Trowbridge parking lot to campus when a friend of yours climbs aboard and sits next to you. Your friend begins telling you how excited they are about being hired by Pioneer for an internship this summer. They tell you about the great pay they will be getting and the credits they will receive towards their degree. You then realize this is not the first of your friends to be hired for an internship in the past few weeks and begin to worry that maybe you should be doing the same. Where do you go to get an internship? Who do you talk to about it? You realize you do not even know where to start. Your friend then tells you to register with hiremizzougrads.com.

A Web site created at MU, hiremizzougrads.com helps students become connected with employers. “Hiremizzougrads.com is an online interactive career system providing students with full and part-time jobs and internships,” said Stephanie Chipman, Career Services Director for CAFNR. “It also allows students to manage on campus interviews and career fair events.”

After registering with the Web site, students and alumni may search for job postings, sign up for on campus interviews, browse employer directories, and RSVP for career fairs and events. “This service is available to all students and we encourage all students to begin using it early to become familiar with the site,” said Chipman.

Employers that register with the site may post and manage job openings. Anything from full and part-time jobs to internships and campus, seasonal, and graduate assistantships. Employers may also schedule on-campus interviews, browse resumes, and register for career fairs and events. Students will find a wide range of companies using the Web site including Archer Daniels Midland, Pioneer and Monsanto.

To register with the Web site, students should go to www.hiremizzougrads.com, and click on Enter. Students are then asked to give their name, addresses, skills and additional information including career goals and job preferences. Students must then submit a resume for reviewing. “After filling out basic information of address and major, students then submit a resume that is reviewed by students who are professional resume reviewers,” said Chipman. “After having their resume reviewed, students will then be approved by an email notification.”

Users may upload resumes, cover letters, references, recommendation letters and other documents. Accounts may also be updated at anytime.

“I encourage students to take advantage of the service, it is completely free for students,” said Chipman.
