Moving out?
Adam Buckallew, Corner Post Staff

It's that time of year again. The snow has melted, flowers are beginning to grow and students are heading off on spring break. The semester is coming to a close soon, and that has some students thinking of the future. Their thoughts, in particular, may be on where they will be living next semester.

Adam Aherns, a junior majoring in agricultural business, has already found his living arrangements for next semester.

"I went to the housing fair that was held at Memorial Union," Ahrens said. "Me and a few friends of mine got an apartment at The Crossroads."

Ahrens said roughly 200 students were in attendance at the off-campus housing fair.

Bernie Raasch, one of Ahren's roommates and a fellow junior agricultural business major, said that they discussed a couple of places before making a decision.

"We looked at the duplexes at Pear Tree, and one other place," Raasch said. "I was looking for something with a lot of room and a nice garage to throw parties in."

"Once we buckled down and got working on finding a place, it was easy," Ahrens said. The hardest part was getting everyone together to look around and make a decision."

Brock Niemeyer, a senior general agriculture major, also attended the off-campus housing fair.

"I would have liked to have seen more realtors at the housing fair," Niemeyer said. "They provided us with good information regarding how to lease an apartment or duplex, but there weren't enough options as far as realtors to talk about properties.

"I looked at Bethel Manor Town Homes, Southfield Town Homes and The Crossroads at Rock Quarry, but they were all owned by the same group of realtors. It was kind of funny."

Niemeyer ultimately decided upon The Crossroads at Rock Quarry also. Niemeyer said that one thing that caught him off-guard was the early deposit he had to pay.

"I had to pay $184 for an early deposit," Niemeyer said. "In a few weeks I'll have to make another $184 deposit. I know it's part of the system, but I didn't know I was going to have to start paying so quickly."
