April 8, 2004- The CAFNR Ambassador program is a unique and prestigious student run organization. The main objective of the ambassadors is student recruitment. They also pride themselves on continually showing that the University of Missouri is above the rest. They also promote diversity within the College of Agriculture through various organizations to fit different lifestyles.

"This organization is a very prestigious, with small family characteristics, and with a great network of people," Jake Davis, CAFNR Ambassadors co-director, said. "It is a huge commitment with huge rewards."

The selection process for the Ambassadors start in the spring, applications are due in February. This year there were 33 applicants with only ten chosen. There are strict guidelines that set the bar for those prospective students who are thinking about applying next year. Some of those guidelines include: set GPA, weekly meeting attendance, training and knowing what the college is about.

"This shows a lot of our students can conduct themselves properly as well as have fun," Lorin Price, Ambassadors co-director, said.

Being an Ambassador takes a lot of time and commitment to the program. Some of the requirements they have to fill are weekly meetings, three high school visits per year, which are fulfilled in or around your home community either by yourself or with a team. Also there are several service projects throughout the year that the Ambassadors participate in such as FFA exhibits, helping with the livestock symposium and Preview Mizzou.

"We are very service oriented, we resort to ourselves as the "go-to" crew," Price said.

The Ambassadors are strictly CAFNR student volunteers. They are the outreach team through the College of Admissions. The Ambassadors help out with student recreational functions. Just recently, they escorted faculty at the "Celebration of Excellence' ceremony as well as various others.

"They are wonderful students and I find it very admirable to be on an organization like this one,' CeCe Leslie, CAFNR Admissions, said. "I speak so highly of them because they are very supportive to the whole community. I envision who give now with in turn be great alumni in the future."
