No, We're Not Referring to Hostess Cakes
Melissa Clark, Corner Post Staff

February 22, 2004 - The MU Tiger Hostess program is looking for 25-30 girls to become a part of their program. Applications are available at the Tom Taylor Football Facilities and are due the February 27th. Applicants have to have knowledge and interest in football, but they also have to be willing to be friendly and talk to people they have never met.

"We are looking for outgoing, fun, and personable girls who stand out and answer appropriate questions and whose personality fits best with fulfilling their duties as a hostess," Lori Linderer, Tiger Hostess co-captain and junior marketing major said.

"There are 29 girls who are leaving the squad this year, and we are needing girls who are interested," Lakeisha Moody, co-captain and senior psychology major, said. "Potential applicants cannot be too shy because they will have to talk to parents, teachers, and students from various secondary and vocational schools.

" Applicants serving as hostesses will get the opportunity to recruit sophomore, junior, and senior and junior college football players to be on the MU football team. They will also get a chance to interact with the parents of the football players and convince them to pursue an opportunity at MU in academics and athletics.

"Whoever tries out has to have a great attitude and to be able to handle personal situations," Moody said.

Applicants will be notified on March 1st and 3rd for first round interviews and on March 8th and 10th for second round interviews.
