Natalie Scherer-Corner Post Reporter Over winter intersession, 24 CAFNR students journeyed overseas to visit China. The break was put together by Dr. Firman and Kurt Richter and sponsored by CAFNR. Lisa Stiens, Freshman Animal Science major, was one of the 24 students who attended the expedition. "My favorite part of the trip, besides the food, was seeing first hand how another culture functions on a day to day basis in different fields of work." Stiens said. The group's mission for the trip was to look at and learn from Chinese agriculture. The group also took on many sightseeing adventures, and explored many parts of China. They first traveled to Beijing, the political and education capital, where they spent five days. Next they traveled by train to Taishan, where they climbed Mount Tai. Mount Tai is a religious place in China. Finally, the group got back on a train and continued to Shanghai, which is very modern part of China. "My favorite part was climbing the Great Wall and Mount Tai and the cultural and historical things we visited," said Stiens. As of now, there is not another trip to China being planned.
