February 23, 2004 - On Tuesday evening, February 3, 2004, the Mizzou Ag Alumni Association held its annual AgUnlimited auction at the Holiday Inn Executive Expo Center.

The auction is held to raise money for scholarships for students of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and to raise money for the Ag Alumni Association.

All CAFNR alumni are invited as well as some current students. As well as alumni, supporters of CAFNR and all faculty and staff are given the opportunity to attend the auction.

"I am so excited to be a part of an organization that has such an involved alumni association," Kristin Clarke, senior animal science major, said.

The alumni were asked to donate items or money to benefit the auction. Last year's scholarship winners were asked to either help get donations or provide their services to be auctioned off.

There were four types of auctions held to raise money. An online version was held on Ebay to offer items that would be wanted to the public, but not necessarily CAFNR alumni and supporters. A live, silent, and buyer's choice (raffle) were held as well. Items such as vacations, autographed footballs and basketballs by Coach Pinkell and Coach Synder respectively were items offered. Gift baskets filled with meats from the State fair grand champion steer were also items up for auction.

Overall, the auction was a success and raised over $30,000.

"I hope one day, that I will be able to contribute to the auction, in order to benefit the future students of CAFNR," Amber Scherer, senior food science major, said.

The Ag Alumni Board members who headed this committee were Carol Hein and Jeff Windett. Neither board members were able to comment on the auction.
