Horticulture Club holds rose sale
By Nicky Frazier, Corner Post staff

Love is in the air, and so is the smell of roses. As relationships blossom this season, a gift of roses is a great way to tell someone you are thinking of them. The horticulture club wants to help you out on Valentine’s Day.

The horticulture club will be holding a rose sale Monday, February 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Anheuser-Busch Natural Resources lobby in the Agriculture building. Roses will be sold for $4 individually wrapped. Although only roses will be sold, they will be available in different colors.

“ We’ll also sell them in boxes and in vases,” said Maria Bellrose, president of the horticulture club. “We also will do arrangements of half dozen and dozen.”

The horticulture club has held the rose sale for the past seven years. They hold the sale to help students get experience in the many different aspects of horticulture. This year, however, the club will have a little help.

“ We’re going to have a professional floral designer with us to help design this year,” said Bellrose.

The horticulture club has ordered 800 roses and expects to sell them all, with all proceeds going to the horticulture club.

So do not let your Valentine catch you without a handful of roses this Valentine’s Day, because with the horticulture club on your side, there is just no excuse.
