Fifteen students from the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural
Resources were recently selected as new members of the CAFNR Ambassador
Program.
The new Ambassadors are Laura Beach, Matt Brown, Laura Clark, Paul Cowherd,
Jonathan Lusardi, Rachel McGilvray, Tyne Morgan, Meagan Perry, Aaron Puchbauer,
Laura Puchbauer, Lisa Steins, James Tvrdy, Josh Twente, Kelvin Urday and Rosie
Weilbacher.
The mission of the CAFNR Ambassador Program is “to strive to be the best
organization and individuals we can be, in order to promote the College of
Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and bridge the high school to college
experience through organization, effective training and functional committees,” said
Heidi Griswold, CAFNR Ambassador Tri-Director.
“Ambassadors are in a sense, students that represent the college in all
facets. We serve as role models, communicators, recruiters, educators and cheerleaders
for the college,” said Heidi Griswold, a junior agribusiness management
major.
The Ambassadors participate in events such as the Celebration of Excellence,
Fall Round-up, Preview Mizzou, Mizzou to You, Meet Mizzou and Black and Gold
Days. Ambassadors also make visits to high schools in order for high school
seniors to know about the array of opportunities CAFNR provides. The recruitment
feature of the Ambassador Program enables prospective students to learn about
life in CAFNR first-hand from current students.
The first CAFNR Ambassador Program dates back to 1983. The process of becoming
a CAFNR Ambassador begins with interested students completing an application
and then participating in an interview process. New Ambassadors are selected
at the beginning of every winter semester. Typically, students serve as an
Ambassador until December of the year they graduate.
“
Ambassadors are so important to CAFNR because we bring in new students to the
college and educate them about all of the different opportunities and experiences
the college offers,” said Megan Cooper, CAFNR Ambassador Tri-Director.
