New CAFNR Career Services Director After discussion with the Ag Alumni Association, Dean Payne, and Associate Dean Vaughn, her request was granted. A committee of faculty, students, and administration was formed to review candidates for the new Career Services Director. There has never technically been an Alumni Relations staff but by creating this position, it will allow a Career Services Director to focus entirely on Career Services. “The new Career Services Director will be able to dedicate 120% of their time to career services,” Vaughn said. “This will allow more attention to be given towards developing new employer recruiting techniques to give students more of an opportunity to obtain a job post graduation.” Ever since last October, when Haynes married, she has been commuting from Kansas City to fulfill her commitment as Career Services Director and as a wife and mother at home. Since the early 1990s, Haynes has been in charge of all alumni events as well as Career Services. This has caused her time to be split between Career Services and Alumni Relations. “I look at this as a win-win situation; more time can be focused on Career Services for the students and I will be able to still be a part of CAFNR in organizing alumni events,” Haynes said. The search committee hoped to have a replacement by September 1. There
were 40 applicants and the committee selected three finalists to be
interviewed by others. All three were highly qualified and the selection
was just made final on Monday.
