Ag Week Begins with a Heart of Worship

Columbia, Missouri-A worship service held at 9:30 on Sunday in Conservation Auditorium was sponsored by members of Alpha Gamma Rho and other campus organizations. The service kicked off Ag Week 2004.

"It took between 5-8 hours to organize the event," said senior Jared Verdught, Alpha Gamma Rho member and head coordinator of the event. "Whitney Wiegel contacted other student organization and did most of the promotions."

The worship service began with songs including, Blessed be your name, and Amazing Love, played by lead singer and guitarist Brian Burke, a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, who also performs for Christian campus organizations such as The Rock and Campus Crusade.

"We were so grateful to have him play," said Verdught.

Although there were a small number of students who attended the service, John Drake's sermon still caught the audience's attention. Drake is the pastor of The Rock.

President of Alpha Gamma Rho, junior Aaron Puchbauer, was astonished to hear the overall presentation of John Drake.

"The sermon was really good and well organized," Puchbauer said.

Vergught, who had never heard Drake speak before said the message was well organized.

"The message was broken down into six parts and easy to understand among believers who have different levels of faith. The message was about being captured by God's love in Jesus Christ."
