Volleyball Tournament Serves a Good Way to Block Other Evening Campus Events
By Sarah Davis, Corner Post Staff

Nine teams of six people began arriving for the volleyball tournament at 6:15 p.m. for registration. The games started 45 minutes later and last until 9 p.m. The tournament was held in Trowbridge where the dirt was a fine place for a few great games of volleyball. Each team paid an entry fee of $30.

The volleyball players consisted of members from Sigma Alpha, GDI, Alpha Gamma Ro, Ag week steering committee, and Collegiate FFA. The coed teams had to have at least two girls playing at all times. The top three teams received a cash prize.

Participant and member of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Student Council, Ben Marshall has played for four years in the Ag week volleyball tournament. He seemed to be very excited because he had an abundance of faith in his team made up of the Ag. Week steering committee.

“Being the returning champions, I believe that we have a good chance of winning again, especially with the athletic girls on the team,” Marshall said. His team did not win but spectators seemed to enjoy their tactics.

Ashley Schlichenmayer, GDI team member, couldn’t wait to play with the GDI guys. She knew that they would be an interesting group to play volleyball with. Schlichenmayer was very excited to play for the winning team and hopes to participate next year.

The volleyball tournament was a big success and many CAFNR students are excited about the rest of the week activities.
