The banquet was held at the Lenoir Manor in Columbia, Mo. The night started at 6 p.m. with mingling and refreshments. Around 7 p.m. the group moved into the banquet hall where tables were arranged for certain groups of individuals. " I really enjoy participating in these events and was excited to be able to receive a scholarship from the Missouri 4-H Foundation," said Bill Ehrich, President of Missouri 4-H State Council who led the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. The Frank Graham Leadership award was given out to ten individuals that showed outstanding leadership through the 4-H in their counties. The night consisted of two guest speakers, both faculty from MU. Evrett Gallup, MU Alumni, told a story about the first scholarship winner. Gallup said that the first Missouri 4-H foundation scholarship was given in 1957 for $170. He told how Terry Snar, the first scholarship winner, currently has a successful family farm in Marthasville, Mo. Following his speech, the Foundation scholarships were announced. There was over $35,000 in scholarships given out. To be able to receive a scholarship you had to be attending the University of Missouri, Columbia, a former 4-H member, and be enrolled in an Agriculture major. Tom Henderson, Interim Vice Provost for Extension & Director of Cooperative Extension, talked on extension budgets and how they plan to help the 4-H program. The night ended in the recognition of National Congress Delegates. The 30 delegates were selected through an interview process and are going on a service and leadership trip to Atlanta. "The dinner was a wonderful opportunity to award outstanding individuals and the food was great," said Carol Hackman who won the Frank Graham Leadership Award. The night ended with thanks to donors and appreciation to all those who support the 4-H foundation.
