Time to crown CAFNR!
Katie M. Molloy, Corner Post Staff

October 8, 2003 - Two CAFNR students are standing in the glory of being MU homecoming candidates. Julie Wrather and Brett Ordnung, both Agriculture Economics majors, have been honored with homecoming queen and king nominations. Both of these candidates have portrayed great leadership in not just CAFNR, but MU as a whole.

Wrather currently serves as the president of the Panhallenic Association and is an active member of Sigma Kappa.

"I am very honored to be a homecoming candidate," Wrather said. "It is such a privilege to even be nominated, let alone be one of the top five; I still can't believe it."

When asked what she would do if she wins, Wrather said: "I will probably pass out! Hopefully not, but I know I will cry. I'm a bit of a crier. I will probably be giving everyone hugs too."

Ordnung serves as Missouri Students Association (MSA) President and is an active member of Alpha Gamma Rho. He says he's excited about being a part of this year's Homecoming.

"I think the excitement came from the nomination from my fraternity and the interview processes," Ordnung said. "I was extremely happy to make the top 10 and that was really my goal. I feel that Homecoming Royalty reflects the hard work each of us has put in our time here at MU. King would be great, but I feel I have already received an award."

Ordnung also was excited about representing his fraternity since being MSA President keeps him so busy. So far, he says his favorite part of the homecoming process has been the community service.

"I think all of the work we put in is more of a reward than work," Ordnung said. "I will have a blast at all of the things coming up within the next couple of weeks."

Wrather says she won't forget being a homecoming candidate. "I definitely want to tell my children all about my experiences at Mizzou, especially this one," Wrather said.

"Win or lose it is an incredible honor and one I am very proud of. I'd like to be able to show them pictures of when Mommy was young and when she got to be on the football field at Mizzou. Of course, that is where my children will go also!"

Wrather and Ordnung have been friends since the first week of their freshman biology class when they couldn't stop laughing.

"Jules truly represents what a student at MU should be, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of Homecoming Queen," Ordung said.
