Vote Today! CAFNR Student Council Holds Election
Adam Buckallew, reporter, CAFNR Corner Post

November 2, 2003 -CAFNR Student Council elections will be held on Tuesday, November 4th and Wednesday November 5th, in the Agriculture Building. With elections right around the corner, Corner Post interviewed Matt Yokeley, CAFNR Student Council representative for Alpha Gamma Sigma.

Matt Yokeley, 19, is a sophomore majoring in agricultural journalism.

"Student council has been an interesting experience. As a whole, we put on Preview Mizzou and Fall Roundup," Yokeley said. "Those are two big things that we do to help CAFNR."

Yokeley served on the faculty and student interaction committee during his term as a representative. Yokeley helped coordinate a corn maze trip and a barbecue with his committee. The goal of those events was to help foster stronger relations between students and faculty.

Yokeley said that he did not plan to run for a position in student council next year, but he did want to encourage others to participate.

"I got to know a lot more students in CAFNR, make friends, and I also was able to get involved with school activities," Yokeley said. "It is a great opportunity for people to branch out and help other students."

Yokeley said that he did not have much advice to pass on to future members of CAFNR Student Council, but he did want them to remember one thing.

"It is important to work with the student body," Yokeley said. "One of the main purposes for a student council is to be the voice of the students, and to let their opinions be heard."
