September 11th Remembered
Katie M. Molloy, reporter, CAFNR Corner Post

"September 11th was a tough time for all of us. It is something we will tell our kids and grandkids about when we are older. We were there, and as Americans… we got through it together," said Phillip Snodgrass, a sophomore agribusiness major at MU.

Many ceremonies were held all over the country to commemorate the innocent people who lost their lives, along with their families who still mourn over their loss.

One particular ceremony called "No More Victims Candlelight Commemoration", sponsored by the Columbia Peace Coalition, was held in Columbia. It brought together many MU students at Peace Park. The crowd of people listened to political speakers and a band called The Buds of Peace.

This event was not the only September 11th memorial ceremony to take place in Columbia. All of the flags were lowered to half-staff due to a legislation signed by President Bush in December of 2001.

Stacey Curtis, a nursing major at MU said,"It is our duty as Americans to respect not only the people who lost their lives on that sad day in September, but also it is our duty to respect the soldiers and their families while the War On Terrorism still exists."
