And
the Crowd Goes Wild…
Jessica Pollard, Corner Post Staff
September 14, 2003- MU students and country music fans converged upon Jesse Hall
on a rainy Friday night to welcome country singer Gary Allan to MU. Arriving
at approximately 7:45, I found that fans were starting to fill the seats of Jesse
Auditorium. There was a good turnout in lieu of the stormy weather.
By 8:05, newcomer Jolie Edwards took the stage and entertained the crowd with
her tribute to Johnny Cash by performing a Cash favorite, "Ring of Fire." She
performed several new debuts including her own version of "Drift Away."
After a short intermission, the crowd stood to welcome Gary Allen. He opened
with recent hits "Man of Me" and "Man to Man". After performing some old favorites,
he debuted a few new singles. The mood changed as Allan performed "The One" and
his newest single "Tough Little Boys."
Many fans were lucky to catch one of many guitar picks that Allan tossed out
to the crowd throughout the show. After mixing some new songs and old favorites,
Allan ended his show with the hit "Right Where I Need to be," and introduced
all members of his band. The crowd then flooded the stage while Allan signed
autographs. Fans enjoyed a great night of country music.
