CAFNR Student Council gets wrapped up for Fall Roundup

Sept. 3, 2003--Strip your bed of its sheets on Thursday, September 4th. Greek gods and goddesses will be roaming the halls of the Agriculture building at the annual College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) Fall Roundup. This year CAFNR students, faculty and staff will adorn themselves in their favorite bedding for the toga themed event.

" Fall Roundup is an informal evening that gives incoming freshman and transfer students a chance to get acquainted with extracurricular clubs and organizations within CAFNR, as well as meet faculty and make new friends in college," said Jared Verdught, Fall Roundup chairman.

Students attending Fall Roundup should meet in Conservation Auditorium at 5:30. Events include guest speakers such as Dean Payne, a skit put on by the CAFNR Student Council and the Fall Roundup Committee, an introduction of faculty members and a special guest.

CAFNR students Matt Hill, fisheries and wildlife major, Erica Coble, agricultural journalism major and Jessica Lehenbaur, bio-chemistry major will also give a preview on what to expect as a student in CAFNR and will answer questions from the audience.

After the events in Conservation Hall students will be given the chance to visit twenty-eight booths of CAFNR clubs and organizations.

“Fall Roundup is a good opportunity for students because it gives them access to so many clubs and organizations in CAFNR,” said Dana Brown, placement director with the Dean of Agriculture. “If students get involved in clubs now they will continue to develop their leadership skills throughout college and hopefully that will help later in life with job development. Plus college is always more enjoyable when you have friends that share your common interests,” continued Brown.

To conclude the evening Tyson Foods is sponsoring a BBQ chicken dinner with Tiger Striped Ice Cream and there will be a prize give away with preference going to the students that participate in the theme of the night by wearing a toga.

" Students should attend the Fall Roundup Toga party because they will receive free food and prizes, but more importantly the night gives them the opportunity to meet new people, get involved in extracurricular activities, and find out more about CAFNR," said Verdught.
