Going! Going! Gone! "Sold for $400 to Alpha Gamma Rho!" Just like that four members
of the Ag Week Steering Committee were sold. How, you may ask, did those four
girls bring so much? Well thanks to the competitive edge within the agriculture
community it was possible.
Skit night's date auction got off to a slow start, quality individuals only bringing
$40. But, as the skits kept getting more and more heated the prices began to
rise. As one organization made fun of another, the air in the Blue Note began
to get thick. Then it seemed as everything came out during the final group went
up on the auction block.
Lacey Jewel, Pam Barclay, Lisa Reese, and Megan Cooper stepped up to sell themselves
for the sake of Ag Week. The bidding began at a rapid pace; those up in the balcony
could hardly tell what was happening.
Before anyone knew anything the price was at $100, then $200. The bidding had
been taken over by two organizations in the agriculture community, the Independent
Aggies and Alpha Gamma Rho.
Allan Sharrock, president of GDI cheered his boys on during the bidding but members
of the AGR house took charge. In the end, AGR won the bidding, but not before
they paid $400. The night was a great success and entertaining to watch.
