Ag Alumni Host Homecoming Tailgate

Oct. 26, 2003-Cool temperatures and a slight drizzle had no effect on the warmth and cheer inside the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse on Saturday morning before the MU Homecoming game against Texas Tech. The University of Missouri Ag Alumni Association joined in the festivities to welcome home agriculture alumni. Seniors were also invited to the event.

"This is kinda nice in here," said Lloyd Wilson, Missouri Department of Agriculture. "They always used to have them outside in a tent." Wilson attended school at MU about 25 years ago.

The Alumni Association served pork sandwiches, chips, and brownies to its hungry visitors. They also offered beer donated by Pony Express, a new soy-based beer.

Overall there was a good crowd. Many more started trickling in as the parade ended and it got closer to game time and the noon meal.

"There were 250-300 [people]. It was a better crowd than we expected for an 11 o'clock game," said David Baker, Assistant Program Director for Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension.
