Busiest day of the year is here

Valentine’s Day marks the busiest day of the year for florists, and the University of Missouri’s Tiger Garden floral shop is no exception. Student and staff florists take an entire five days to prepare for the event as they scramble to make enough arrangements for the Valentine’s Day rush. The week before Valentine’s Day, Tiger Garden gets a delivery of boxed flowers that employees prep for arrangements. Once the flowers are ready, they are incorporated into a design and often finished with bows or decorations.

Erin Casey, Retail Sales Assistant Manager for Tiger Garden, says that Valentine’s Day is good learning experience for students.

“We are a business, but the goal is for students to get real life experience,” Casey said.

Tiger Gardens is open weekdays from  9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is selling Valentine’s Day merchandise through February 14th.
